《士師vs自私》Day 10
屬乎血氣的耶弗他
11 以法蓮人聚集，到了北方，對耶弗他說：「你去與亞捫人爭戰，為甚麼沒有招我們同去呢？我們必用火燒你和你的房屋。」2 耶弗他對他們說：「我和我的民與亞捫人大大爭戰；我招你們來，你們竟沒有來救我脫離他們的手。3 我見你們不來救我，我就拚命前去攻擊亞捫人，耶和華將他們交在我手中。你們今日為甚麼上我這裏來攻打我呢？」4 於是耶弗他招聚基列人，與以法蓮人爭戰。基列人擊殺以法蓮人，是因他們說：「你們基列人在以法蓮、瑪拿西中間，不過是以法蓮逃亡的人。」5 基列人把守約旦河的渡口，不容以法蓮人過去。以法蓮逃走的人若說：「容我過去。」基列人就問他說：「你是以法蓮人不是？」他若說：「不是」，6 就對他說：「你說『示播列』。」以法蓮人因為咬不真字音，便說「西播列」。基列人就將他拿住，殺在約旦河的渡口。那時以法蓮人被殺的有四萬二千人。7 耶弗他作以色列的士師六年。基列人耶弗他死了，葬在基列的一座城裏。(士師記十二1-7)
1 The Ephraimite forces were called out, and they crossed over to Zaphon. They said to Jephthah, “Why did you go to fight the Ammonites without calling us to go with you? We’re going to burn down your house over your head.” 2 Jephthah answered, “I and my people were engaged in a great struggle with the Ammonites, and although I called, you didn’t save me out of their hands. 3 When I saw that you wouldn’t help, I took my life in my hands and crossed over to fight the Ammonites, and the Lord gave me the victory over them. Now why have you come up today to fight me?” 4 Jephthah then called together the men of Gilead and fought against Ephraim. The Gileadites struck them down because the Ephraimites had said, “You Gileadites are renegades from Ephraim and Manasseh.” 5 The Gileadites captured the fords of the Jordan leading to Ephraim, and whenever a survivor of Ephraim said, “Let me cross over,” the men of Gilead asked him, “Are you an Ephraimite?” If he replied, “No,” 6 they said, “All right, say ‘Shibboleth.’ ” If he said, “Sibboleth,” because he could not pronounce the word correctly, they seized him and killed him at the fords of the Jordan. Forty-two thousand Ephraimites were killed at that time. 7 Jephthah led Israel six years. Then Jephthah the Gileadite died and was buried in a town in Gilead. (Judges 12:1-7)

分享：今天繼續看耶弗他的事蹟。打勝亞捫人之後又發生了另一段插曲，以法蓮人來與耶弗他爭論，責怪為何他們沒有被邀請同去與亞捫人爭戰。最終耶弗他與以法蓮人爭戰，並殺掉以法蓮四萬二千人。(他與基甸的做法截然不同，參士師記八1-3)
從與以法蓮人爭戰一事可見，耶弗他完全被血氣、情緒控制了，導致最後自相殘殺。雖說以法蓮人的論點有點橫蠻無理，但耶弗他的回應也不見得成熟。這完全是一段屬血氣的爭論。很諷刺，耶弗他成功拯救了以色列人，但最後也殺了很多以色列人。由一開始要證明自己，到許願求勝，及至與以法蓮人相爭⋯⋯ 證明耶弗他的行事為人屬乎血氣。如果要稱他為自私的士師，絕不為過。
老掉牙的一句話：「我們控制不了周遭事情的發生或別人的想法，但我們能夠控制自己的言行舉止。」耶弗他並沒有好好控制自己，以致最後得到這樣慘烈的結局。或許我們仍然可以說一句：最後以色列人也被拯救了。但可以肯定的是，這樣的結局並不是最好的結局，而今次的記載裡，作者再沒有記載「國中太平多少年」，大概是暗示了一個事實：戰勝了敵人，但國中並不太平。
各位，如果把這樣的處境放在今天教會當中，也是一個很好的提醒。或許我們能夠在屬靈爭戰中打勝仗，然而我們能否屬靈地處理教會裡的爭論？保羅今天仍在提醒我們：「因我們並不是與屬血氣的爭戰，乃是與那些執政的、掌權的、管轄這幽暗世界的，以及天空屬靈氣的惡魔爭戰。」(以弗所書六12)
反思：怎樣能夠讓自己更屬靈地 (而不是屬血氣) 處理爭論？
禱告：親愛的天父，求祢幫助我們以屬靈的眼睛看事情，而不是讓血氣、情緒主導了我們的言行舉止。讓耶弗他與以法蓮人的爭論成為我們的提醒，叫我們對正焦點：與世界爭戰，而不是在祢的國度裏相爭。以上禱告，奉主耶穌得勝的名求，阿們。
