《誰才是瞎眼?》

1 耶穌過去的時候,看見一個人生來是瞎眼的。 2 門徒問耶穌說:「拉比,這人生來是瞎眼的,是誰犯了罪?是這人呢?是他父母呢?」 3 耶穌回答說:「也不是這人犯了罪,也不是他父母犯了罪,是要在他身上顯出神的作為來。 4 趁着白日,我們必須做那差我來者的工;黑夜將到,就沒有人能做工了。 5 我在世上的時候,是世上的光。」 6 耶穌說了這話,就吐唾沫在地上,用唾沫和泥抹在瞎子的眼睛上, 7 對他說:「你往西羅亞池子裏去洗。」(西羅亞翻出來就是「奉差遣」。) 他去一洗,回頭就看見了。 8 他的鄰舍和那素常見他是討飯的,就說:「這不是那從前坐着討飯的人嗎?」 9 有人說:「是他」;又有人說:「不是,卻是像他。」他自己說:「是我。」 10 他們對他說:「你的眼睛是怎麼開的呢?」 11 他回答說:「有一個人,名叫耶穌,祂和泥抹我的眼睛,對我說:『你往西羅亞池子去洗。』我去一洗,就看見了。」 12 他們說:「那個人在哪裏?」他說:「我不知道。」

13 他們把從前瞎眼的人帶到法利賽人那裏。 14 耶穌和泥開他眼睛的日子是安息日。 15 法利賽人也問他是怎麼得看見的。瞎子對他們說:「祂把泥抹在我的眼睛上,我去一洗,就看見了。」 16 法利賽人中有的說:「這個人不是從神來的,因為祂不守安息日。」又有人說:「一個罪人怎能行這樣的神蹟呢?」他們就起了紛爭。 17 他們又對瞎子說:「祂既然開了你的眼睛,你說祂是怎樣的人呢?」他說:「是個先知。」 18 猶太人不信他從前是瞎眼,後來能看見的,等到叫了他的父母來, 19 問他們說:「這是你們的兒子嗎?你們說他生來是瞎眼的,如今怎麼能看見了呢?」 20 他父母回答說:「他是我們的兒子,生來就瞎眼,這是我們知道的。 21 至於他如今怎麼能看見,我們卻不知道;是誰開了他的眼睛,我們也不知道。他已經成了人,你們問他吧,他自己必能說。」 22 他父母說這話,是怕猶太人;因為猶太人已經商議定了,若有認耶穌是基督的,要把他趕出會堂。 23 因此他父母說:「他已經成了人,你們問他吧。」 24 所以法利賽人第二次叫了那從前瞎眼的人來,對他說:「你該將榮耀歸給神,我們知道這人是個罪人。」 25 他說:「祂是個罪人不是,我不知道;有一件事我知道,從前我是眼瞎的,如今能看見了。」 26 他們就問他說:「祂向你做甚麼?是怎麼開了你的眼睛呢?」 27 他回答說:「我方才告訴你們,你們不聽,為甚麼又要聽呢?莫非你們也要作祂的門徒嗎?」 28 他們就罵他說:「你是祂的門徒;我們是摩西的門徒。 29 神對摩西說話是我們知道的;只是這個人,我們不知道祂從哪裏來!」 30 那人回答說:「祂開了我的眼睛,你們竟不知道祂從哪裏來,這真是奇怪! 31 我們知道神不聽罪人,惟有敬奉神、遵行祂旨意的,神才聽祂。 32 從創世以來,未曾聽見有人把生來是瞎子的眼睛開了。 33 這人若不是從神來的,甚麼也不能做。」 34 他們回答說:「你全然生在罪孽中,還要教訓我們嗎?」於是把他趕出去了。(約翰福音九1-34)

1 As He went along, Hee saw a man blind from birth. 2 His disciples asked Him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” 3 “Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” said Jesus, “but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him. 4 As long as it is day, we must do the works of Him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work. 5 While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” 6 After saying this, He spit on the ground, made some mud with the saliva, and put it on the man’s eyes. 7 “Go,” He told him, “wash in the Pool of Siloam” (this word means “Sent”). So the man went and washed, and came home seeing. 8 His neighbors and those who had formerly seen him begging asked, “Isn’t this the same man who used to sit and beg?” 9 Some claimed that he was. Others said, “No, he only looks like him.” But he himself insisted, “I am the man.” 10 “How then were your eyes opened?” they asked. 11 He replied, “The man they call Jesus made some mud and put it on my eyes. He told me to go to Siloam and wash. So I went and washed, and then I could see.” 12 “Where is this man?” they asked him. “I don’t know,” he said.

13 They brought to the Pharisees the man who had been blind. 14 Now the day on which Jesus had made the mud and opened the man’s eyes was a Sabbath. 15 Therefore the Pharisees also asked him how he had received his sight. “He put mud on my eyes,” the man replied, “and I washed, and now I see.” 16 Some of the Pharisees said, “This man is not from God, for He does not keep the Sabbath.” But others asked, “How can a sinner perform such signs?” So they were divided. 17 Then they turned again to the blind man, “What have you to say about Him? It was your eyes He opened.” The man replied, “He is a prophet.” 18 They still did not believe that he had been blind and had received his sight until they sent for the man’s parents. 19 “Is this your son?” they asked. “Is this the one you say was born blind? How is it that now he can see?” 20 “We know he is our son,” the parents answered, “and we know he was born blind. 21 But how he can see now, or who opened his eyes, we don’t know. Ask him. He is of age; he will speak for himself.” 22 His parents said this because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders, who already had decided that anyone who acknowledged that Jesus was the Messiah would be put out of the synagogue. 23 That was why his parents said, “He is of age; ask him.” 24 A second time they summoned the man who had been blind. “Give glory to God by telling the truth,” they said. “We know this man is a sinner.” 25 He replied, “Whether He is a sinner or not, I don’t know. One thing I do know. I was blind but now I see!” 26 Then they asked him, “What did He do to you? How did He open your eyes?” 27 He answered, “I have told you already and you did not listen. Why do you want to hear it again? Do you want to become His disciples too?” 28 Then they hurled insults at him and said, “You are this fellow’s disciple! We are disciples of Moses! 29 We know that God spoke to Moses, but as for this fellow, we don’t even know where He comes from.” 30 The man answered, “Now that is remarkable! You don’t know where He comes from, yet He opened my eyes. 31 We know that God does not listen to sinners. He listens to the godly person who does His will. 32 Nobody has ever heard of opening the eyes of a man born blind. 33 If this man were not from God, He could do nothing.” 34 To this they replied, “You were steeped in sin at birth; how dare you lecture us!” And they threw him out. (John 9:1-34)

耶穌看見一個生來瞎眼的人,門徒立刻問:「這人或他父母誰犯了罪?」(v.2) 他們以為可以用既有的神學解釋一切,但耶穌卻指出,這事是要顯出神的作為。祂吐唾沫抹在瞎子的眼上,叫他去西羅亞池洗,結果他就看見了。

然而,真正的對比不是「瞎子與能看見的人」,而是「誰真正明白」。這人原本看不見,卻一步一步認出耶穌,從「那人名叫耶穌」(v.11) ,到「祂是先知」(v.17) ,甚至為祂作見證。相反,法利賽人明明看得見,卻因為堅持自己的立場與制度,不但拒絕耶穌,還定耶穌為有罪。

原來,看得見不代表明白;看不見的人,反而可能更願意相信。屬靈的瞎眼,不在眼睛,而在心。當人自以為看得清楚,就更難被光照;當人承認自己有限,反而更容易看見神的作為。今天,我們也可能熟悉真理,卻不一定真正明白。問題不只是「我看見了什麼」,而是「我是否願意被神打開眼睛」。各位,究竟誰才是瞎眼呢?

【釋經亮點】

為什麼門徒會把瞎眼的人與罪扣上關係?這反映當時猶太人常見的理解:苦難與罪有直接關係。這種觀念並非毫無根據,在《塔木德》中提到:「若人看見苦難臨到他,應當省察自己的行為。」(If a person sees suffering coming upon him, he should examine his deeds) 苦難可以成為屬靈反省的提醒。然而,拉比傳統其實不只停留於此,也承認有些苦難並非因個人犯罪,而可能是神容許的「愛的苦難」,為要塑造人。但一般人往往將這觀念簡化,變成「凡受苦的,必有錯」。門徒正是停在這種簡化的因果邏輯中。

耶穌卻突破這種思維,指出這事是要顯出神的作為。祂沒有否定罪的存在,而是拒絕將苦難簡化為懲罰。人急於問「誰的錯」,神卻在當中顯明「祂要做什麼」。因此,生命不只是因果問題,更是神作為的舞台。真正的問題不是找原因,而是是否願意看見神在當中的工作。

反思:我是否以為自己看得很清楚,其實仍然不明白?當神的作為不符合我的理解時,我會接受還是拒絕?今天,我願不願意承認自己的有限,讓主開我的眼?

禱告:主耶穌,祢是光,但我很多時自以為看見,卻沒有真正明白。求祢打開我屬靈的眼睛,使我不再被自己的經驗與偏見限制。當祢的作為超出我理解時,給我一顆願意相信的心。也求祢讓我在生活中經歷祢的真實,使我的信心不斷成長。願我不只是看見,而是真正認識祢。以上禱告,奉主耶穌的名求,阿們。
