《先鋒的使命》
57 伊利莎白的產期到了，就生了一個兒子。 58 鄰里親族聽見主向她大施憐憫，就和她一同歡樂。 59 到了第八日，他們來要給孩子行割禮，並要照他父親的名字叫他撒迦利亞。 60 他母親說：「不可！要叫他約翰。」 61 他們說：「你親族中沒有叫這名字的。」 62 他們就向他父親打手式，問他要叫這孩子甚麼名字。 63 他要了一塊寫字的板，就寫上，說：「他的名字是約翰。」他們便都希奇。 64 撒迦利亞的口立時開了，舌頭也舒展了，就說出話來，稱頌神。 65 周圍居住的人都懼怕；這一切的事就傳遍了猶太的山地。 66 凡聽見的人都將這事放在心裏，說：「這個孩子將來怎麼樣呢？因為有主與他同在。」
67 他父親撒迦利亞被聖靈充滿了，就預言說： 68 主－以色列的神是應當稱頌的！因祂眷顧祂的百姓，為他們施行救贖， 69 在祂僕人大衛家中，為我們興起了拯救的角， 70 正如主藉著從創世以來聖先知的口所說的話， 71 拯救我們脫離仇敵和一切恨我們之人的手， 72 向我們列祖施憐憫，記念祂的聖約－ 73 就是祂對我們祖宗亞伯拉罕所起的誓－ 74 叫我們既從仇敵手中被救出來， 75 就可以終身在祂面前，坦然無懼地用聖潔、公義事奉祂。 76 孩子啊！你要稱為至高者的先知；因為你要行在主的前面，預備祂的道路， 77 叫祂的百姓因罪得赦，就知道救恩。 78 因我們神憐憫的心腸，叫清晨的日光從高天臨到我們， 79 要照亮坐在黑暗中死蔭裏的人，把我們的腳引到平安的路上。
80 那孩子漸漸長大，心靈強健，住在曠野，直到他顯明在以色列人面前的日子。 (路加福音一57-80)
57 When it was time for Elizabeth to have her baby, she gave birth to a son. 58 Her neighbors and relatives heard that the Lord had shown her great mercy, and they shared her joy. 59 On the eighth day they came to circumcise the child, and they were going to name him after his father Zechariah, 60 but his mother spoke up and said, “No! He is to be called John.” 61 They said to her, “There is no one among your relatives who has that name.” 62 Then they made signs to his father, to find out what he would like to name the child. 63 He asked for a writing tablet, and to everyone’s astonishment he wrote, “His name is John.” 64 Immediately his mouth was opened and his tongue set free, and he began to speak, praising God. 65 All the neighbors were filled with awe, and throughout the hill country of Judea people were talking about all these things. 66 Everyone who heard this wondered about it, asking, “What then is this child going to be?” For the Lord’s hand was with him.
67 His father Zechariah was filled with the Holy Spirit and prophesied: 68 “Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel, because He has come to His people and redeemed them. 69 He has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of His servant David 70 (as He said through His holy prophets of long ago), 71 salvation from our enemies and from the hand of all who hate us— 72 to show mercy to our ancestors and to remember His holy covenant, 73 the oath He swore to our father Abraham: 74 to rescue us from the hand of our enemies, and to enable us to serve Him without fear 75 in holiness and righteousness before Him all our days. 76 And you, my child, will be called a prophet of the Most High; for you will go on before the Lord to prepare the way for Him, 77 to give His people the knowledge of salvation through the forgiveness of their sins, 78 because of the tender mercy of our God, by which the rising sun will come to us from heaven 79 to shine on those living in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the path of peace.”
80 And the child grew and became strong in spirit; and he lived in the wilderness until he appeared publicly to Israel. (Luke 1:57-80)

從撒迦利亞因不信而沉默，到開口讚美與預言，神不單成就應許，也更新了撒迦利亞的生命與口，使他宣告有關這孩子的預言：「孩子啊，你要稱為至高者的先知；因為你要行在主的前面，預備祂的道路。」(一76) 這正是指向神的救恩計劃。
施洗約翰的出生，不只是喜事，更是一個使命的開始。當撒迦利亞的口重新被打開，他所說的第一句，不是為兒子自豪，而宣告這孩子將承擔的使命：「行在主前，預備道路，使人因罪得赦，認識救恩」(一76-77) 。預言中已描繪約翰的一生，不是為自己而活，而是為主作先鋒。雖然他不是主角，卻是不可缺少的一位，為要預備人心，迎接主的來臨。這提醒我們：真正有價值的人生，不在於被看見，而在於是否帶人去看見神。他不高舉自己，只單單指向基督，成為別人認識主的「橋樑」。
【釋經亮點】
《路加福音一80》如此記載：「那孩子漸漸長大，心靈強健，住在曠野，直到他顯明在以色列人面前的日子。」這一句為約翰的一生作出重要鋪排 —— 他不是突然被神使用，而是在隱藏中被長時間預備，直到合適的時候。
「漸漸長大」與「心靈強健」，指出他內在生命的建立；「住在曠野」，則象徵一種與世界分別、專注於神的生活。曠野，不只是地理位置，更是一個被神塑造、學習聆聽祂聲音的地方。
有學者認為，約翰可能與愛色尼人有所關聯 —— 這是一群退到曠野、過分別為聖生活的人。雖然聖經沒有明確說明，但約翰簡樸而專注的生命，確實反映出一種被神預備的狀態。
今天，我們未必是站在台前的人，但都可以成為預備道路的人，在生活中見證神，引人歸向祂。然而，這一切的起點，是我們是否願意先進入自己的「曠野」——在神面前被塑造，學習聽祂的聲音，並忠心回應祂的呼召。
反思：當神要用你成為別人認識祂的「橋樑」，你願意嗎？
禱告：呼召人作見證的主啊。求祢幫助我，不為自己而活，而是成為預備道路的人。教我在隱藏中被祢塑造，在日常中為祢作見證，使我的生命能引人歸向祢。讓我不追求被看見，只願忠心完成祢交託我的使命。奉主名求，阿們。
