《水：讓人永遠不渴的活水》
7 有一個撒馬利亞的婦人來打水。耶穌對她說：「請你給我水喝。」(8 那時門徒進城買食物去了。) 9 撒馬利亞的婦人對他說：「你既是猶太人，怎麼向我一個撒馬利亞婦人要水喝呢？」原來猶太人和撒馬利亞人沒有來往。10 耶穌回答說：「你若知道神的恩賜，和對你說『給我水喝』的是誰，你必早求祂，祂也必早給了你活水。」11 婦人說：「先生，沒有打水的器具，井又深，你從哪裏得活水呢？12 我們的祖宗雅各將這井留給我們，他自己和兒子並牲畜也都喝這井裏的水，難道你比他還大嗎？」13 耶穌回答說：「凡喝這水的還要再渴；14 人若喝我所賜的水就永遠不渴。我所賜的水要在他裏頭成為泉源，直湧到永生。」15 婦人說：「先生，請把這水賜給我，叫我不渴，也不用來這麼遠打水。」16 耶穌說：「你去叫你丈夫也到這裏來。」17 婦人說：「我沒有丈夫。」耶穌說：「你說沒有丈夫是不錯的。18 你已經有五個丈夫，你現在有的並不是你的丈夫。你這話是真的。」19 婦人說：「先生，我看出你是先知。20 我們的祖宗在這山上禮拜，你們倒說，應當禮拜的地方是在耶路撒冷。」21 耶穌說：「婦人，你當信我。時候將到，你們拜父，也不在這山上，也不在耶路撒冷。22 你們所拜的，你們不知道；我們所拜的，我們知道，因為救恩是從猶太人出來的。23 時候將到，如今就是了，那真正拜父的，要用心靈和誠實拜祂，因為父要這樣的人拜祂。」24 神是個靈，所以拜祂的必須用心靈和誠實拜祂。25 婦人說：「我知道彌賽亞（就是那稱為基督的）要來；祂來了，必將一切的事都告訴我們。」26 耶穌說：「這和你說話的就是祂！」(約翰福音四7-26)
7 When a Samaritan woman came to draw water, Jesus said to her, “Will you give me a drink?” 8 (His disciples had gone into the town to buy food.) 9 The Samaritan woman said to him, “You are a Jew and I am a Samaritan woman. How can you ask me for a drink?” (For Jews do not associate with Samaritans.) 10 Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked Him and He would have given you living water.” 11 “Sir,” the woman said, “you have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where can you get this living water? 12 Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did also his sons and his livestock?” 13 Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, 14 but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” 15 The woman said to Him, “Sir, give me this water so that I won’t get thirsty and have to keep coming here to draw water.” 16 He told her, “Go, call your husband and come back.” 17 “I have no husband,” she replied. Jesus said to her, “You are right when you say you have no husband. 18 The fact is, you have had five husbands, and the man you now have is not your husband. What you have just said is quite true.” 19 “Sir,” the woman said, “I can see that you are a prophet. 20 Our ancestors worshiped on this mountain, but you Jews claim that the place where we must worship is in Jerusalem.” 21 “Woman,” Jesus replied, “believe me, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. 22 You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. 23 Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. 24 God is spirit, and His worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.” 25 The woman said, “I know that Messiah” (called Christ) “is coming. When He comes, He will explain everything to us.” 26 Then Jesus declared, “I, the one speaking to you—I am He.” (John 4:7-26)
分享：以色列地多為乾旱或半乾旱地區，水資源稀少，百姓對水的依賴和渴望，讓水在希伯來文化中為神賜予恩典與供應的重要象徵。其中主耶穌與撒馬利亞婦人在井旁的一段對話，更深刻地將「活水」連繫至從神而來的內在屬靈生命。
耶穌走路困乏，來到撒馬利亞的一個井旁，主動與一個正午來打水的婦女要水喝；主更向這婦人說若知道神的恩賜，和現向她要水的是誰，那必早求祂，得著活水；後來主再進一步啟示這「活水」與一般的水不同，「人若喝我所賜的水就永遠不渴。我所賜的水要在他裏頭成為泉源，直湧到永生。」(參約翰福音四7-15)
以水來比喻主所賜的屬靈生命，這不單借取了水作為人生命之源之意；又以喝水、求水來提醒我們神所賜的生命，若肯求，便能得著。但最重要的是，這裡的水是「活水」(Living Water)，不同於一般井中靜止、封存的水，是流動的，會如泉水般湧出，象徵主賜給信徒內在的屬靈生命力與更新，能洗淨、醫治，不斷湧流到永生。
這「活水」對話的美妙之處在於，對於那孤立、羞恥，甚至似乎與救恩無緣的撒馬利亞婦人，主知道她的渴不僅限於身體，而是靈裡的乾渴、罪的捆綁，祂的活水能為她提供活潑的拯救和更新。
類似的情景也曾在印度一村莊重演。宣教士 Gunasekaran 長途跋涉來到一個偏遠村落，就在井旁休息時，他看見村民在井邊獻花敬拜。原來村民相信祖先住在井中，病人若喝井水便能痊癒。Gunasekaran 與其中一名村民分享耶穌與撒馬利亞婦人的故事，並說：「耶穌才是活水，祂才是真正的醫治者！」這村民當天信主，之後愈來愈多人跟隨耶穌。一個月後，整個村莊不再拜井，只是用作取水。
你看到我們內心最深切的渴只有主的活水才能滿足嗎？主耶穌早已預備了祂的活水，只等我們敞開、領受。
反思：我是像那井旁婦人或那些印度村民一樣，總是奢望以外在的水，來填補內在的渴嗎？
禱告：親愛的主耶穌，感謝祢看到我們靈裡的乾渴，憐憫我們總是不得其法地以世界的水來解內在的渴；又感謝祢在我們無助、軟弱、仍作罪人時，反而邀請我們來領受祢的活水。願祢的活水今在我們心中湧流，醫治我們、充滿我們、更新我們。奉主名求，阿們。
